Fat Freddy’s back!

in News by

Fat Freddy’s Drop have announced a starry Summer tour, together with their first new recorded material in almost three years.

The ever-popular Wellington band will play eight big outdoor shows in January and will be joined on the tour by legendary UK DJ Norman Jay plus local stars such as Salmonella Dub, The Black Seeds and Ladi6.

A new album looks to be in the works, too, with this Friday (July 20) seeing the release of ‘Trickle Down’, a politically charged new single described as “an electronic-driven reaction to the false economic principle of wealth trickling down from the 1% to the 99%”.

No word yet when the follow-up to 2015’s Bays will be released but ‘Trickle Down’ will be available on 12” later in the year.

In the meantime, Fat Freddy’s Drop will be keeping busy with an extensive European tour that kicks off in August and includes festival dates in France, the UK and Spain. They have also lined up some of their biggest headline shows yet in October and November, including a double header at London’s iconic Brixton Academy. They will be joined on  their annual Northern Hemisphere pilgrimage by Ladi6 and Parks.
