Nathan Haines, Team Dynamite and Laughton Kora are among the guests appearing on the upcoming new album from Latinaotearoa.
Influencis et Collabis is out on July 27 on Mucho Aroha Records and will be supported by a quickfire tour that will include two Australian dates.
The new album from Latinaotearoa sees Bobby Brazuka and Jennifer Zea paying tribute to some of their favourite South American artists – Jorge Ben, Oscar D’Leon, Celia Cruz etc – with the help of an eclectic line-up of Kiwi artists.
Team Dynamite appears on the latest single ‘Jazzy Samba’, Laughton Kora pops up on a remake of Raphael Saadiq’s neo-soul classic ‘Skyy, Can You Feel Me’, while ‘One Tree Bossa’ features the talents of Nathan Haines and Julien Dyne (Ladi6). Also making guest appearances on Influencis et Collabis are Yoko-Zuna, Melodownz and Rio de Janeiro rapper Black Alien.
“The artists playing on the radio while growing up in South America inspired us to embark upon our musical journey,” says Brazuka. “This album acknowledges the positive effect these musicians have had on our Aotearoa band. By creating Latin inspired collaborations with some of New Zealand’s finest musicians, we hope to one day help influence the next generation.”
As well as a special album preview party in Auckland on July 26, Latinaotearoa will be playing the following live dates: July 27: Darkroom, Christchurch; July 28: Yonder, Queenstown;
August 3: Laundry, Wellington; August 4: The Common Room, Hastings; August 10: Whammy Bar, Auckland; August 11: Sly Fox, Sydney; August 12: Section 8, Melbourne.
