Six60 most streamed on Spotify

in Industry by

Six60’s triumphant year has continued with the band being most streamed New Zealand artist of 2018 on Spotify.

After cleaning up earlier in the month at the Vodafone NZ Music Awards, the perennial chart toppers claimed the top spot in the streaming giant’s end of year lists. Six60 were also the second most followed artist of the year, with Ed Sheeran taking the top spot.

At #2 in the most streamed chart was Lorde, while Kiwis’ love of reggae/soul is reflected with Katchafire, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Sons of Zion taking out the other top five spots.

Sons Of Zion

The most streamed album of the year in NZ was Post Malone for Beerbongs & Bentleys, although Drake was the most streamed artist of the year overall. The latter’s ‘God’s Plan’ was also the most streamed single of the year, both overall and in most age categories, including Spotify users aged 45 and over. Interestingly, though, the two most popular songs in the 30-34 age group were two ambient tracks designed to help babies sleep.

‘Hot Hits New Zealand’, meanwhile, was the third most streamed playlist.

The top 10 most streamed NZ artists were:

  1. Six60
  2. Lorde
  3. Katchafire
  4. Fat Freddy’s Drop
  5. Sons of Zion
  6. Drax Project
  7. Stan Walker
  8. Mitch James
  9. The Black Seeds
  10. Kings
