Merry Christmas from The Beths

Festive singles are somewhat out of fashion these days, but The Beths have resurrected the form with a cover of the standard ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.

Released on Friday (November 30), the song was finished during their most recent tour and is singer Liz Stokes’ favourite Christmas song. The single is available digitally and on 7” and all proceeds will go to the Girls Rock Camp Foundation.

To celebrate the release, The Beths will also play two Christmas show this month at the Meow in Wellington on December 14 and at the Leigh Sawmill on December 15.

After that The Beths will head to Australia for three shows and in January will head back to Europe for some more dates.,

Meanwhile, two of New Zealand’s top children’s songwriters have teamed up for the a charity Christmas song. Kath Bee and Anna van Riel’s ‘Give Love at Christmas’ is described as a “new Christmas anthem for young and old” and was recorded by Danny Fairley at his studio in Wanaka, together with a local choir.

Bee is a two-time winner of the APRA Children’s Video of the Year, van Riel has previously enjoyed success in the Australian Songwriters Association Contest and the International Songwriting Competition.

“Collaborating with Kath and being able to use a local production team has been fantastic,” van Riel says. “Having this opportunity through New Zealand on Air has been incredible, and so amazing for the growth of Kiwi Kids Music.”

All proceeds of ‘Give Love at Christmas’ will go to Variety the Children’s Charity.
